ASL Pro League

Two Brackets. Two Belts.

The headline division. ASL 2 split the Pro League into two parallel elimination brackets - Open Weight 3v3 and Under 90kg 3v3. Three on the mat, one on the bench. Submission is king. $4,000 cash and a belt for each winning team - and the same format returns for ASL 3.

Ways to Win

  • Submission - king. A legal submission ends the bout immediately.
  • Full-team elimination - wipe out all three active athletes in Round 1 or 2 and the bout is stopped as an instant TKO. No further round.
  • Referee or medical stoppage.
  • Opponent disqualification.
  • Judges' majority decision - genuine submission attempts and near-finishes weigh first. Stalling never wins a decision.

Team Rules That Matter

  • 2-on-1 is legal. 3-on-1 is banned - the referee stops it immediately.
  • Teammate rescues must be controlled entries - no diving, launching or crashing into the pile.
  • Only one athlete may apply submission pressure at a time.
  • Straight ankle locks and kneebars only - all twisting leg locks (heel hooks, toe holds) are banned in team play.
  • Survive the round with at least one athlete and your team resets to its full lineup for the next round.

ASL 1v1 Division

One-on-one. Submission is king. Always a winner.

Single super-fights under one rulebook for gi and no-gi. Submission-only in regulation - no points, no positional scoring. Two division standards, set by the lower-ranked athlete's belt: White and Blue belts compete over 6 minutes under a restricted leg-lock standard (straight ankle locks and kneebars only), while Purple, Brown and Black belts compete over 7 minutes fully open - heel hooks and all twisting leg locks legal, in gi and no-gi. Main Event and Championship bouts run 10 minutes. Every bout ends with a decisive winner - no draws.

Who It's For

Individual competitors of any belt, gi or no-gi. Your division standard follows the lower-ranked athlete's belt.

  • White & Blue belts: 6-minute bouts - straight ankle locks and kneebars only, no heel hooks or twisting leg locks
  • Purple, Brown & Black belts: 7-minute bouts - fully open, including heel hooks and all twisting leg locks (gi and no-gi)
  • Main Event / Championship bouts: 10 minutes
  • Gi bouts add collar and sleeve grips plus collar chokes - bow-and-arrow, loop, clock, ezekiel
  • Overtime stage 1: 1-minute sudden death - submission, or takedown to a dominant top position held for a 3-second count (closed guard does not count)
  • Overtime stage 2: 1-minute golden score - first to score wins
  • Still level? Three judges decide by majority - no draws, closeness to a finish weighs first
